President Donald Trump on Sunday appeared to reject calls from senior AI figures
to slow the development of large models, saying at the Irish Open he wants the
United States to remain the world leader and that “whoever wins AI, wins
everything.” The comments follow a Saturday joint appeal by Anthropic CEO Dario
Amodei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and xAI founder Elon Musk to slow the pace of AI
capability increases; Trump called those warnings driven by “negative forces”
and based on scenarios “that won’t happen.”
