Trump said the U.S. might remain in Iran and 'take the oil', likening the idea
to U.S. efforts to secure roughly one-fifth of Venezuela's oil reserves. He
reiterated he still expects the Iran war to end this year but said it could
extend until shortly after the U.S. midterm elections in November. As an
alternative to withdrawal, he floated continued intervention and said revenues
from Venezuela have repeatedly paid war costs.
