At the open, China's most-active futures contracts were mostly lower: soda ash fell over 3%, caustic soda nearly 3%, synthetic rubber, Shanghai tin and alumina dropped more than 2%, coking coal nearly 2% and coke over 1%. Advances included Shanghai crude (SC) up over 8%, fuel oil up over 3%, the container-shipping Europe route up nearly 2%, and bitumen, ferrosilicon, low-sulfur fuel oil (LU) and platinum up more than 1%.

Saudi foreign minister said continued escalation in the region would broaden the scope of confrontation. Gulf states will not accept Iran attacking their territory under any pretext. Security in the Gulf Arab states can only be guaranteed through respect for each country's sovereignty.

On Sept 12 in New Delhi, China's Minister Wang Wentao met India's commerce minister Goyal. Wang said China is willing to work with India to implement the leaders' consensus, expand mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation, and seek balanced resolution of bilateral trade concerns to better benefit companies and people. Goyal said India values stable, healthy ties and will work with China under their leaders' strategic guidance to strengthen exchanges and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.
