Asian currencies were broadly weaker in early trade against the dollar as
markets expected the Federal Reserve to raise rates. Deutsche Bank research said
latest US inflation data was broadly in line with expectations but remains
sufficient to bolster expectations of a Fed hike this week; fed funds futures
put the probability of a 25bp move at 88% versus 62% a week earlier. LSEG data
showed the dollar up 0.3% on the day versus the won and yen at USD/KRW 1,345.80
and USD/JPY 154.06; AUD/USD fell 0.2% to 0.7151.
