Sept 14, 2026, Jakarta — President Prabowo removed Finance Minister Purbaya and
appointed former deputy finance minister Suahasil Nazara as finance minister
under Presidential Decree No. 97/P of 2026. Suahasil will serve the remainder of
the 2024–2029 government term. He has been deputy finance minister since Oct.
2019, worked with Sri Mulyani in the Joko Widodo administration and remained
deputy under Prabowo. Purbaya, who took office on Sept. 8, 2025, previously
chaired the board of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation.
