Germany's finance minister Klingbeil will push for an EU-level windfall profits tax at Friday's EU meeting, a German finance ministry spokesperson said.

Baker Hughes (BKR.O) chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said he has not seen evidence that higher borrowing costs have slowed investment in large energy projects. He said global AI infrastructure build-out is driving strong demand for natural gas and power, supporting project economics. Simonelli added that while financing remains a consideration, projects’ ability to secure funding depends on existing offtake agreements and the energy-demand outlook; population growth, industrial expansion and data-center growth continue to underpin related investment.
