Germany's finance ministry said on Monday it will push for the EU to impose a
windfall tax on energy companies at an informal meeting of EU finance ministers
on Friday. A government spokesman said: "We are watching developments with
growing concern," adding that recent gasoline price rises are placing a heavy
burden on businesses and households.
