Elon Musk’s Terafab is accelerating semiconductor equipment procurement. In Q2
it moved large front-end orders forward with ASML, Applied Materials, Lam
Research and Tokyo Electron; procurement in H2 will progressively shift to
packaging and other back-end equipment. South Korea’s Hanmi Semiconductor has
won an order from Terafab for AI-system semiconductor packaging equipment,
becoming the first Korean supplier in Terafab’s back-end supply chain; contract
value, quantities and delivery timing were not disclosed. Terafab now targets
first production in 2029, later than prior reports of trial runs end-2027 and
mass production in 2028.
