Ahead of the inaugural Canada Investment Summit in Toronto on 14-15, Prime Minister Carney said Canada has reached a new national consensus to take control of its future. The summit aims to attract C$1 tln of investment over five years (about US$720 bln) and will showcase priority projects in energy, critical minerals, high-tech and major infrastructure to link global capital with Canadian projects, bolster supply-chain resilience, lift productivity and reduce dependence on the US.

US-headquartered Boston Dynamics, Hyundai Motor Group’s humanoid robotics unit, is unlikely to pursue an IPO next year because its flagship Atlas robot has not been mass-deployed and the unit remains unprofitable, a parent-company executive said. The comments indicate a public listing could still be years away despite earlier investor enthusiasm that helped lift Hyundai shares. Analysts say an IPO is unlikely while humanoid robots remain too scarce for broad factory deployment. Hyundai has said it aims to build a factory capable of producing 30k robots a year by 2028 and to begin deploying humanoid robots at its US Georgia plant in 2028, with wider rollout across its manufacturing network thereafter; some analysts call those targets ambitious.
