Tempus founder and CEO Eric Lefkofsky told media on Monday he supports
Anthropic’s call to slow AI development, saying current models’ ability to
self-train and self-improve makes it plausible a system could “get out of
control.” He cited safety and capital-efficiency reasons, praised Anthropic,
OpenAI and SpaceX for their healthcare work, and downplayed concerns that the
U.S. would fall behind if major firms cut investment. He added that reducing
speed “from 100 mph to 70 mph” posed no real risk and he did not expect other
countries to overtake the U.S.
