MIIT’s Department of Science and Technology on the 15th published the 2026 draft
Guidelines for Building a Power Battery Recycling Industry Standards System for
public comment, targeting issuance or revision of more than 50 national
standards by 2030 and a standards framework covering the full industry chain and
product lifecycle. The draft proposes fast-tracking standards across the full
chain — collection, storage and transport, physical processing, and chemical
processing — and sets a six-part structure: basic/general standards; collection
and classification; physical processing; chemical processing; comprehensive
reuse/product standards; and green low-carbon standards.
