Denmark’s military said a Russian frigate fired two flares on Thursday at a Danish military helicopter in international waters off the Danish coast, narrowly missing the aircraft. The Danish Defence Command said the helicopter was conducting a routine photography mission of the frigate and that the flares are pyrotechnic devices typically used at sea as warning signals. Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus told broadcaster TV2 Denmark will summon the Russian ambassador in Copenhagen for talks.

Bernd Lange, chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade, said the EU and Canada should form a "team of fairness and partnership" to counter an international order increasingly shaped by coercion, dependency and power politics. He said the concept should be promoted to countries seeking reliable partners rather than dependency and political pressure.
