Politico reports House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed warnings that AI could
destroy civilization, likening recent alarms from AI labs to what he called
left-wing exaggeration on climate change. At a Tuesday press conference
responding to President Trump’s remarks, Johnson said when the president calls
the warnings a 'hoax' he means a recurring pattern of 'manufacturing a disaster,
media hype, social amplification' and that claims people will be 'dead in 10
years' are false.
