A U.S. government watchdog on Sept. 14 released the first report on the US‑Iran conflict’s effects, acknowledging shortages in advanced U.S. weapons stocks and detailing damage to U.S. aircraft, bases and diplomatic facilities in the Middle East. The PENTAGON inspector general says the war has caused “strategic stock shortfalls” and exposed munitions‑replenishment industrial‑base bottlenecks. Independent analysts estimate the U.S. military may need about three years to restore advanced missile and air‑defense interceptor inventories to pre‑conflict levels.

On the 14th (local time) Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said Houthi air defenses intercepted two Saudi fighter formations over Saada province. He identified the aircraft as Typhoon and F-15 jets that departed air bases in Khamis Mushait and Taif. Saree said Houthis used several locally made surface-to-air missiles to intercept the jets and forced them to turn back. Saudi authorities had no immediate comment.
