Sept. 2 — as weaker large-vessel freight pushed the benchmark lower. The
capesize index (BCI) slid 225 points, or 3.8%, to 5,687; capesize daily earnings
dropped $2,047 to $48,072. The panamax index (BPI) fell 29 points, or 1.2%, to
2,364; panamax daily earnings declined $264 to $21,276. The supramax index (BSI)
rose 11 points, or 0.6%, to 1,736. The handysize index (BHSI) gained 6 points to
948.
