Republican Representative Thomas Massie on Tuesday filed an impeachment
resolution accusing Defense Secretary Hegseth of continuing U.S. military action
against Iran without congressional authorization. The measure contains eight
articles and also cites U.S. operations in Venezuela and Yemen. As a privileged
resolution, Massie can force a House vote within a prescribed period, compelling
Republicans to take a position on Hegseth's wartime conduct; passage is unlikely
in a GOP-controlled Congress. The House has previously voted on measures to curb
executive war powers on Iran and will again consider a War Powers resolution
this week.
