Washington Post: The Trump administration is preparing a $2.8 bln package to
sell 2,000‑lb bombs to Israel. The plan would include 40,000 2,000‑lb bombs —
20,000 MK‑84 and 20,000 BLU‑117 — plus 20,000 I‑2000 penetrator warheads. If
approved, it would be the largest controversial single ammunition sale in recent
years. MK‑84s are among the most destructive in Western arsenals; explosions
hurl metal fragments thousands of feet, can penetrate metal and thick concrete
and typically leave large craters. Deliveries could take years. The
administration is pressing leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and
House Foreign Affairs Committee to approve the sale.
