Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. has opened a new lithium‑ion battery R&D facility,
the “Energy Innovation Plaza”, in Kadoma, Osaka Prefecture. The centre will
serve as the company’s global battery R&D and production hub—covering materials
development, cell design and prototyping—and will coordinate with its Suminoe
production development centre in Osaka to accelerate development and scale‑up of
next‑generation automotive and data‑centre batteries; related technologies and
manufacturing processes will be rolled out to Panasonic plants in Japan and to
US factories in Nevada and Kansas.
