The United Nations Global Risks Report 2026 shows large-scale war rose 16 places—the biggest jump—among 28 global risks versus the 2024 inaugural survey. 36% of respondents said a large-scale war could occur within one year; 76% said within seven years. Perceived risks that also climbed sharply include a global financial crisis, supply‑chain collapse and cybersecurity threats; the largest falls were biodiversity loss, widespread pollution and natural resource scarcity. The report notes respondents in 2026 placed less emphasis on environmental risks overall, though climate inaction, natural disasters and resource shortages remain material concerns.
