Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee said in the policy address that China’s megawatt-level flash-charging technology can fully recharge passenger cars in about nine minutes and battery-swap systems can replenish energy in roughly 100 seconds. With Hong Kong government support, related projects are expected to be implemented locally in the near term. The Environment and Ecology Bureau, together with China’s National Energy Administration, plans to build Hong Kong’s first ChaoJi charging-technology demonstration station by 2027 to showcase compatibility with Chinese and European charging standards.
