Market news: US small-business bankruptcy bill passed the House.

The White House website on the 16th said the Trump administration plans to bar Canadian-origin goods from US federal civilian procurement, calling the action retaliation for Canada’s Buy Canadian policy and alleging Ottawa restricts US firms’ access to procurement markets at all levels of government. It said Canadian firms had been eligible to compete for more than $280 billion of US procurement. The move follows earlier US measures, including tariffs on certain Canadian alcohol, dairy and motor vehicle products.
