Trump said on social media US interest rates should be 1% or lower, arguing the
US has the world’s strongest credit and is drawing substantial new investment.
He urged the Federal Reserve to cut rates swiftly, saying lower borrowing costs
would help the economy. Trump also claimed that stopping trade with countries
where the US runs deficits would yield at least $1.5 trillion a year, calling
trade deficits a "loss" that cannot continue.
