Gold briefly rose in Asian early trading before retreating. Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group analyst Soojin Kim said gold’s trajectory is increasingly dependent on the pace of Fed rate hikes. After rising energy prices and stronger-than-expected core inflation added price pressure, the Fed hiked on Wednesday. Kim said geopolitics and safe-haven demand provide support, but inflation and elevated US Treasury yields cap gold’s upside.
