Refinitiv, citing five sources, reported U.S. officials met Houthi representatives at the U.S. embassy in Muscat over the weekend; the meeting was not public. The talks followed a Houthi offensive days earlier in which the group seized a strategic Red Sea coastal area and routed Saudi-backed forces, sources said. Two sources said Oman, a long-standing regional mediator, helped arrange the meeting; two others said U.S. attendance was by embassy staff. At the Sunday meeting, two sources said the Houthis told U.S. officials they had no intention of attacking U.S. vessels and said they would comply with a 2025 ceasefire agreement with the United States. One Yemeni source said the group also said it would not attack Israeli ships or any merchant vessels except those owned by Saudi interests.
