TIMIRAOS said two years ago, when the Fed began cutting, 10 policymakers expected the terminal rate below 3%, seven above 3% and two at 3%. In the current SEP only one policymaker expects the long-run rate below 3%, 11 expect it above 3% and six expect 3%. In 2029 projections from 17 respondents, a majority judge that to achieve 2% inflation (DISINFLATION) rates would need to be at or above 3.6% — roughly the year-long rate level prior to this week’s hike — underscoring upside risk to long-run rate estimates.

Turkish equities tumbled on Wednesday after asset manager Pusula Portfoy said some of its investment and money-market funds could not meet redemption requests, intensifying liquidity concerns in the fund sector. Borsa Istanbul 100 slid as much as 5.7% intraday, extending a two-day loss to 6.9% and threatening its largest one-day drop since March 2025 before narrowing to about a 3% decline. Data provider Fintables reported net redemptions of 55 bln lira (~$1.13 bln) from Turkish investment funds on Wednesday. Economist Banu Kivci Tokali warned that rising concerns over fund collateral quality and liquidity raise contagion risk and that weakening confidence has fueled the selloff.
