Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) raised its GDP growth forecast to 1.7% for 2026, up from a 0.9% projection in June, after adjusting for major sporting events. SECO left its forecast for the following year at 1.6%. Stronger-than-expected Q2 output was driven by the volatile pharmaceuticals sector and may overstate underlying momentum. SECO kept its inf forecasts unchanged at 0.6% for both years. Insiders said officials expect to hold the key policy rate unchanged through end-2027.

Baltic Dry Index (BDI) rose 9 points (0.3%) to 3,336, led by a 44-point (0.8%) gain in the Capesize index (BCI) to 5,656; Capesize average daily earnings increased $396 to $47,793. Panamax index (BPI) fell 43 points (1.8%) to 2,282, with panamax daily earnings down $392 to $20,535. Supramax index (BSI) added 14 points (0.8%) to 1,762. Handysize index (BHSI) rose 19 points to 980.
