Four industry sources said Slavneft’s Yaroslavl refinery (YANOS) halted crude
processing on Thursday after a Ukrainian drone strike damaged equipment.
Yaroslavl region governor Mikhail Yevrayev said authorities had foiled a
large-scale drone attack: "65 drones were shot down, no casualties. The refinery
was damaged and firefighting is ongoing." President Zelenskiy said Ukraine
struck the refinery overnight. The plant is about 250 km (155 miles) northeast
of Moscow. Sources said the strike damaged the main crude distillation unit
AVT-3, with design throughput of 17,140 tonnes/day, roughly 40% of the
refinery’s capacity. The refinery’s other major units are AT-4 (11,430 t/d, 27%)
and AVT-4 (14,300 t/d, 33%); AVT-4 was already damaged in an Aug. 28 drone
attack and remains under repair. Market participants said fuels from the
Yaroslavl plant were not listed on the Russian domestic commodity exchange on
Thursday.
