China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) told a
government briefing it will boost residential quality by focusing on building
“good homes” — defined as safe, comfortable, green and smart. Improvements will
span the full chain and lifecycle: higher standards, better design, improved
materials, construction quality and operations/maintenance. MOHURD said it will
raise housing-quality requirements in 14 specific areas and will shape standards
by listening to residents’ views on what constitutes a good home.
