Jiang Wei, vice president and secretary‑general of the China Iron and Steel Association, said the industry is undergoing systemic restructuring driven by integrated innovation, with comprehensive changes in capacity and equipment, product and service offerings and green transition; on a broader industry cycle the sector is moving from scale expansion to competition on quality, with technology‑led, cross‑sector innovation key to the upgrade.

Market intelligence firm Cleanview says 250 planned U.S. data centers would, assuming typical 2/3 utilization, mean an average new center consumes enough electricity to serve about 54,000 households. The projects would raise current capacity of 13.2 GW by more than sevenfold, a scale equivalent to powering over two‑fifths of U.S. households. Cleanview also estimates average next‑generation data‑center power draw will be roughly 2.5x that of centers entering service in 2026.
