Australia's S&P/ASX 200 opened down 18.90 points (-0.22%) at 8,712.3 on Monday, Sept. 21.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said on Sept. 20 the top 10 passenger-car producers sold 4.014 million units in Jan-Aug, representing 67.9% of passenger-car sales. Among those ten, SAIC Motor and Tesla posted YoY sales increases; the other firms recorded YoY declines.

The Trump administration is preparing broader sanctions on the International Criminal Court that could, after a 6–7 month grace period, bar most transactions with the ICC and potentially restrict its use of the US dollar, curbing the court’s access to the global financial system. Final decisions and timing are undecided; officials said an announcement could come during or shortly after the UN General Assembly. The State Department declined to detail measures; Secretary of State Rubio has described the ICC as a threat to US sovereignty. Washington has already sanctioned several ICC officials, including former chief prosecutor Karim Khan, ICC president Tomoko Akane and multiple judges and prosecutors; the new measures would expand targeting from individuals to the court’s transactions. The escalation follows the ICC’s 2024 arrest warrants for Israeli prime minister Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant.
