SOUTH KOREA'S LEE will visit the US and Mexico from Sept. 21-27 to attend the UN General Assembly and hold a summit with Mexico's president sheinbaum. He plans bilateral meetings at the UN with US, Australian and other leaders.

South Korea will brief parliament on the $350 billion plan to invest in the U.S. on the 22nd, with a closed-door report to the parliamentary Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee at 09:30 Seoul time (08:30 Beijing). The presentation, postponed from the 17th as Seoul and Washington conducted final-stage talks, is expected to outline investment size and timing for major energy projects including the Encinal combined-cycle gas plant in Texas (flagged as the likely first project), large nuclear reactors and Alaska LNG, sources said. Lawmakers will review whether negotiations alter the overall outlay and Korea’s funding burden. The trade ministry says strategic investments in the $350 billion package would not exceed $200 billion, with an annual outbound funds cap of $20 billion.
