Sept. 22-25 — The Chinese military will send detachments to Indonesia to participate in the ASEAN defense ministers' expanded meeting live exercise 'Trident Resolve.' Framed around an earthquake and secondary complex disasters, the drills will include rubble search-and-rescue, multinational field medical treatment, epidemic prevention and decontamination, and disaster-communications emergency-response exercises via tabletop and live scenarios. The exercise is intended to strengthen participating forces' cross-border humanitarian rescue capabilities and improve regional disaster emergency-response mechanisms.

Egyptian President Sisi told visiting CIA director Ratcliffe on the 20th he supports resolving hotspots including Iran and Palestine through political and diplomatic means. According to a presidential statement, Sisi said Egypt fully supports efforts toward a comprehensive agreement to resolve the Iran crisis, restore regional security and safeguard freedom of navigation.
