The National Press and Publication Administration issued a Publishing Industry
'15th Five-Year' Development Plan setting overall requirements, targets, tasks
and safeguard measures and mapping a sector development blueprint. The plan aims
for significant progress in high-quality publishing by 2030 and for publishing
to play a more prominent role in driving national cultural innovation and
prosperity. It identifies eight priority areas—theme publishing; expanding
high-quality supply; nationwide reading promotion; accelerating deep integration
of publishing; systemic reform of the newspaper sector; innovation in printing
and distribution; strengthening international dissemination; and building a
high-level publishing talent pool—and lists eight columns and 33 major projects
covering content production, reading promotion, industry upgrading,
international communication and talent across the full publishing value chain.
