The Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) European Department said on its website that Suo Peng has been appointed director-general. On Sept. 11 he met with Sweden’s director-general for foreign trade to discuss China‑Sweden and China‑EU trade relations; Sweden’s ambassador to China attended.

Wens Foodstuff told investors at a roadshow that China hog prices have been depressed for an extended period. The company said industry and market participants disagree on the timing and magnitude of a cyclical reversal but preliminarily expects prices to reach a consolidation turning point around the Spring Festival. The industry broadly sees a high probability of returning to profitability in 2027; profit levels will depend on hog price trends in this year’s Q3–Q4 and the pace of industry capacity reduction.

Sept. 20 — The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) told central SOEs to prioritize “advancement” across technology, industry structure and production. Firms should anchor on key fields and critical links, systematically undertake new national major science and technology projects, implement flagship tech tasks and build pilot-scale demonstration platforms to push technological routes toward higher-end, more autonomous outcomes. On industry mix, SASAC instructed SOEs to grow emerging-industry output, cultivate future-sector variables and upgrade traditional-industry stock to climb the mid-to-high end of industry and value chains. On production, it ordered firms to accelerate measures that make pollution reduction and carbon cuts mutually reinforcing with quality and efficiency gains, aiming to form high-technology, low-resource, low-pollution industrial structures and production methods.
