Bank Indonesia says it will continue to maintain a presence in the FX market to ensure orderly market functioning.

The 169th China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand Lancang-Mekong river joint patrol and law-enforcement operation formally launched at 09:00 on Sept 21. Ahead of deployment, the four countries' law-enforcement agencies held a commanders' meeting and multilateral information exchange in Jinghong to coordinate cross-border crime suppression and information sharing. During the operation, task forces will target cross-border illegal activity, tighten control of key waterways and carry out navigation-safety inspections to safeguard shipping safety and social stability across the Lancang-Mekong basin.

On Sept. 21 Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said Russia on Sept. 18 notified Japan about a US deployment of the 'Tiefeng' medium‑range missile system to Kyushu and that China has also recently raised concerns with Tokyo. Guo called the system a strategic offensive weapon, said Japan’s adoption is further evidence of accelerating remilitarization, and warned it increases the risk of military confrontation and an arms race, threatens strategic balance and regional stability, and harms neighbouring countries’ legitimate security interests. He said China has repeatedly lodged strong protests through diplomatic channels and has recently notified Japan to reiterate its stern stance; he added many Asian publics have voiced opposition and the international community is highly alert.
