Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi spoke by phone with German foreign minister
Wadephul on Sept. 21. Citing both countries’ status as major economies and
comprehensive strategic partners, they agreed to step up strategic communication
and deepen practical cooperation in response to current shocks from
unilateralism and deglobalization. They said enhanced China–Germany cooperation
would send a positive signal in defense of multilateralism and free trade,
bolster confidence in bilateral ties and play a constructive role for China–EU
relations, and that mutually beneficial cooperation should be advanced to
deliver further results.
