Three sources said the U.S. plans to reopen a Cold War-era base in southern Greenland and establish a military presence at an east-coast site currently used by Danish patrols; two sources identified the sites as Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig. The U.S., Denmark and Greenland are expected to sign the agreement at the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. ET (22:30 Beijing). Denmark said the deal places Arctic security under NATO oversight rather than solely under a U.S.-Denmark bilateral arrangement.
