China Railway Shanghai Group said the Yangtze River Delta’s 16‑day Mid‑Autumn and National Day rail period runs Sept 23–Oct 8, 2026, with the region expected to handle 54.0 mln passenger trips over the holiday and 2.28 mln today. Peak demand is forecast for Oct 1 at 4.40 mln passenger trips, a potential single‑day record. Rail operators will add 65 temporary passenger trains on top of scheduled peak services to match demand.
