McDonald's (MCD.N) on Wednesday unveiled new financial targets including a goal to lift operating margins, and said it will roll out food-quality training and provide financial support to franchisees undertaking restaurant renovations. The measures form part of the McDonald's > NEXT growth plan announced in June, focused on new restaurant design, upgraded food and beverages, consumer-driven innovation and improved employee service. Executives had previously disclosed few implementation details or near-term financial impacts. The strategic push comes as McDonald's U.S. business seeks to recover from weak sales and as persistently elevated inflation has weighed on restaurant traffic.
