He said the government will not stop all exports and seeks to preserve global diesel supplies while reining in domestic price trends; measures will be voluntary. Wright added officials want to avoid heavy‑handed policy and recognize refinery complexity. Trump’s earlier comment that the government was considering diesel export limits has raised industry concern; refiners warn a ban could tighten U.S. diesel and gasoline availability and push prices sharply higher.
