Poland’s deputy prime minister said a Starlink satellite communications ground
station in central Poland caught fire on Wednesday night. The site, which
supplies internet to neighbouring areas including Ukraine, suffered damage to
its power station and generators; he said systems have since been restored. He
described the blaze as apparent deliberate sabotage intended to disable the site
and cut internet access for institutions including the Ukrainian military.
Poland has remained on high alert for sabotage since the 2022 Russia‑Ukraine
war, and Russia has repeatedly denied responsibility. He cited Prime Minister
Tusk’s recent characterisation of such attacks as part of hybrid warfare.
