Swiss National Bank Chairman SCHLEGEL said the Swiss franc weakened as interest-rate differentials with other currency areas widened.

China's State Administration for Market Regulation has revised and issued the national standard Green Product Evaluation — Textile Products, effective Oct 1. The standard will serve as the basis for green evaluation and certification of textile products and tightens green assessment rules, pushing firms to optimize production processes and raise clean-production levels. It aims to expand supply of green, higher-quality textile goods, steer green consumption and support the textile sector's green, low-carbon, high-quality development.

U.S. gold stocks fell broadly: Sibanye Gold down 6.1%, AngloGold Ashanti down 4.9%, Gold Fields down 4.5%, Harmony Gold down 4.4%, Kinross Gold down 4.3% and Newmont down 3.7%; SPDR Gold Trust (GLD) down 1.4%.
