On Sept. 25, 2026, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met Cyprus President Nikos
Christodoulides in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Han
said China-Cyprus relations have remained stable under the strategic leadership
of President Xi Jinping and President Christodoulides, with advances in
pragmatic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. He noted 2026 marks the
55th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the fifth anniversary of their strategic
partnership, and said China is willing to consolidate strategic mutual trust,
deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthen multilateral coordination
to build a more productive strategic partnership.
