Canada on the 25th signed a preliminary agreement with Sweden's Saab to purchase six GlobalEye airborne early‑warning aircraft, the Canadian Defence Investment Agency said. The pact sets the scope for detailed negotiations. Saab's radar systems will be built in Canada and the aircraft are intended mainly for Arctic surveillance. Ottawa also plans to procure associated mission systems and training services; timing has not been finalised.
