China and the United States have agreed to establish an agricultural working
group under the China‑US Trade Council, co‑led by China’s Ministry of Commerce
(MOFCOM) and the U.S. Trade Representative, with participation from relevant
regulatory agencies. Beijing said the countries’ trade teams reached a series of
positive consensuses in May on addressing certain agricultural non‑tariff
barriers and market‑access issues and agreed in principle to include related
products in a '30 bln vs 30 bln' reciprocal tariff‑reduction framework. The
working group will focus on two‑way agricultural market access and regulatory
issues and is scheduled to hold its first meeting by end‑2026. China said it
will use the group to push the U.S. to resolve its agricultural concerns.
