After the eighth round of China‑U.S. economic and trade consultations, the two sides agreed to establish a China‑U.S. Trade Council under the bilateral consultation mechanism to optimize trade. Negotiating teams have reached consensus on the council’s mandate, structure, responsibilities and consultation arrangements; details will be published later. The council will first discuss a 300 bln vs 300 bln reciprocal tariff‑reduction framework, aiming to reach agreement. An agricultural working group has been set up under the council, and the council will also consider other measures to optimize bilateral trade.
