Nikkei reports VIS, a Taiwan semiconductor company, began operations on Monday at its first advanced chip fab in Singapore and is considering a second. The company says new capacity is fully sold out amid strong demand from the AI infrastructure boom.

Far-right national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir told a 'Return to Gaza' rally on Sept. 27 that if he becomes Israel's defense minister after parliamentary elections in October he intends to establish Jewish settlements across the Gaza Strip. Ben-Gvir said he hoped to 'lead our return to Nisanit, the entire northern periphery and the whole of Gaza' and to 'build more and more settlements.' Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, dismantling 21 Jewish settlements including Nisanit and pulling out its military.
