The National Electricity System Operator (NESO) warned of possible electricity supply tightness on Monday evening, saying reserve capacity could be short by about 14 GW from 16:00 local time. NESO said pressure should ease overnight as wind generation rises. It noted alerts have become more frequent since this summer’s heatwaves but described the warning as a routine, precautionary operational tool and said there is no risk to consumer supply; the UK power system remains secure.
