The U.S. Department of Transportation said the final rule relaxing vehicle fuel-economy standards, finalized on Monday, will cut GM 's technology costs by $20.4 bln through 2031. The administration projects automakers' aggregate technology costs will fall $60.6 bln through 2031, equivalent to about $1,189 per vehicle. Under the previously planned 2024 standard, GM's technology costs to 2031 had been estimated at $31.7 bln.
