He warned automakers to carefully cost self‑developed driving systems, saying required investment could run from several billion to more than 10 billion yuan; with many automakers selling under 1 mln units a year, software alone would add several thousand yuan per vehicle before ongoing iteration and additional hardware/domain‑controller costs, making in‑house development uneconomical.
